Bikes on Trains

You can take your bike along when you ride Amtrak!

Folding bicycles under the dimensions of 34″ x 15″ x 48″ (860 x 380 x 1120 mm) are allowed onboard all trains in lieu of a piece of carry-on baggage.

Trainside Checked Bicycles: The Lake Shore Limited, which connects Buffalo-Depew with Chicago to the West and New York City and Boston to the East, provides Trainside Checked Bicycle Services. Amtrak personnel will store and secure your bicycle to a rack located in the baggage car. There is a $20 fee to use this service, and you must reserve the space for your bicycle by calling 1-800-USA-RAIL.

Boxed Checked Bicycles: Aboard all other train lines (Empire Service and Maple Leaf), bicycles may be boxed and transported as checked baggage for a $10 fee. This service is only available when departing from the Buffalo-Depew station.
