Look for posted signs or bus shelters along the bus route.
Buses come with bike racks. If you have a bike, follow the instructions written on the bike rack to easily load and secure your bike.
Make sure to allow passengers to exit the bus first. Have your fare or monthly pass in hand.
Pay with cash: $2 one way or $5 for an all-day pass.
If you have a monthly pass, swipe it through the machine. You can purchase a monthly unlimited pass at NFTA.com
Find a place to sit or hold a strap to stand and ride.
Save the seats in front for the elderly or disabled if possible.
Follow the rules: drinking eating and smoking are not allowed on the bus.
Use headphones if listening to music.
Bus stops are announced visually and audibly.
The driver will be notified and will pull over at the next bus stop.
You may exit out the front or side of the bus.
Let the driver know that you will be taking your bike.
Remove your bike from the rack and move away from the bus and traffic.

You can walk or bike to a station. If you have to drive, free park-N-ride lots are located at University and LaSalle Stations.
If you ride your bike to the station, take advantage of the bike racks at every station before boarding the train.
You can also take your bike with you on the train.
Remember to use the front train car if you do.
Purchase tickets from the cash-only machines inside the station. $2 one way or $5 for an all-day pass.
Or, purchase a monthly unlimited pass through NFTA.com
Keep your ticket or monthly pass with you.
Show your monthly pass or ticket if a NFTA employee asks to see it.
Look for destination signs to get to the correct boarding platform.
Wait behind the colored line on the platform.
Board after the doors have opened completely.
Make sure to allow other passengers to exit the train first.
Disabled persons, senior citizens and bike passengers should enter the first car. Only the front car is ADA accessible once you are downtown.

Exit the train when your stop is announced.
